The Chicago Wind improved their 4A record to 2-1 Tuesday morning with a 6-2 victory over the Bill Lee-led New England Red Sox in the Roy Hobbs World Series 60+ Division at the Red Sox complex in Fort Myers, Fla.
Jerry Solomon and Bill Smith had RBI singles for the Wind and Jim Konstantakis tossed a complete-game (9 innings) 6-hitter to earn the victory. Game 4 Wednesday 10 a.m. vs. Team Florida. Both teams entered the game with 1-1 records.
Lee, the Sox No. 4 hitter, went 1 for 4 with a bloop single to right. After the game, he walked out with us and chatted about the old days. Great guy and still a competitor.
