The Frozen Ropes Outlaws and The Columbia County Cannons battled in Game 5 Friday night to see who would be the 25 divison champion for 2011.
The Outlaws sent Leo Primeau to the mound and the Cannons sent Mike Zorgelski.
The Cannons jumped out to an early lead when JB Brantley led the 2nd inning off with a homerun.
The Cannons scored 2 in the 4th inning with a lead off walk by JB Brantley. Dave Ames then singled. Scott Steltz walked bringing up Carlos Lliera with the bases loaded and he drove in Brantley and Ames with a single to right field.
The Cannons then score in the bottom of the 5th inning on a solo shot to deep right field by Danny Barberio.
The Outlaws finally got on the board in the top of the 6th inning with a walk to Tom Hopkins and Jami Burnetter getting on via a Fielders Choice. Burnetter steals 2nd base and Jimmy Rogers gets the 1st hit of the game for the Outlaws with a single to right field driving in Jami Burnetter.
The Cannons score 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning with a single from Dave Ames. Scott Steltz then singled to center field. Eric Joce reaches on a throwing error by the SS scoring Dave Ames. Eric Wilsey then drives in 2 runs with a double to left center field.
The Outlaws score 1 more in the top of the 7th inning with a lead off single by Carlos Maldanado. Maldanado then steals 2nd base and scores on a Tom Hopkins base hit to center field.
The Cannons win game 5 7 to 2 over the Outlaws.
Mike Zorgelski throws a complete game 3 hitter with 11 K's.
Mike Zorgelski wins game 1 and game 5 for the Cannons winning him the Championship MVP.
Congrats to the Cannons for winning the Championship for the 2nd year in a row.
This was a great series played by both teams.
