The BlueJays behind the pitching of John Weber won 2-1 this Sunday to move on to the next opponent the Blue Thunder. John scattered 5 hits and kept the Sox off balance all day. Art Gianakos and Dave Latina had two hits apiece and each had the rbi's for the game. The Blue Jays defense played almost flawless behind John.
For the Blacksox Jerry Solomon pitched an outstanding game as well and kept the Blacksox in the game and a good game it was. Dave Booker had the big blow for the Sox with a shot against the right field fence and scored on an error by the centerfielder for their only run.
Mike, I couldn't agree more. After a slow start, the Jays became a legitimate threat to any team they faced. John Weber is among the elite pitchers in the division and Paul Post at 3B is one of the best in any division. Pat Alston flat out crushes baseballs and you can't pitch around him by virtue of their other solid hitters: Brian Allen, Dave Foreman, Elgin Henderson, Dave Latina, Mike Surin, Darryl Hunt and that veteran manager of theirs, Artie G.
Teams like yours make this one of the most competitive 45 Divisions in the nation. Girard will probably tell you that, too, because of what CDMSBL has faced in Florida throughout the years. Congrats guys on a great rookie season. Congrats Artie for pulling it together.
