Blue Thunder clinches second place

Jim Ansel spun a one-hitter and the Blue Thunder bats pounded out 14 hits in a pivotal 13-1 five inning mercy rule win over the Black Sox on Saturday at Dutchman Field. The Thunder clinched second place with the win. The Black Sox scored first on an unearned run in the opening frame, but the Thunder plated six in the first inning and tacked on two more runs in the second and third, and then rode the arm of Ansel to victory. Pete Geanellis raised his team-leading batting average to .529 with a 3-for-3 performance and three RBI while Donnie Ball also had three hits and two RBI. Ansel struck out five in lowering his ERA to 1.72 and raising his record to 4-1.
