The playoffs are finally set..............time to break it down.
Pirates vs Shaskys - Pirates should take this game being the 5 seed but the Shaskys always puts a team out there that doesn't lay down so anything is possible. Pirates win 7-3.
Orioles vs Reds - The battle between the 8 & 9 seed could go either way...basically the same team, both tough. I give the edge to the Orioles. Orioles win 5-3.
Padres vs Highlanders - in a fight between the old vs new the Padres look to make there mark in there 1st crack at the playoffs. Padres score early and often. Padres win 9-2.
A's vs Yankees - In a good matchup between the A's send Ed Powell to the his to cool off the Lex and the Yankees. A's jump out to a early lead and hold off a late rally by the Yankees. A's win 6-5
In 2nd round action.
Pirates vs Nationals - looks for the pirates to take the first game of the series with Kane heading to the mound. But the Nationals bounce back in game two to force a game 3. Pirates throw Kane again in a close one to take the series 2 games to 1.
Orioles vs Dodgers - Orioles look to upset the # 1 seed Dodgers. The dodgers are the highest scoring team in the league so it will be tough. If they can get to Pearsall and Shook they have a chance, tough road ahead. Dodgers win the series 2-0
Padres vs Cubs - Newbies face the defending champs in a battle for survival. Looks for Cubs to make a statement for a repeat. Cubs take this series in two.
A's vs HummingBirds - The A's looks for and upset special as they take on the mighty Hummingbirds...the only team to slam the door on the Dodgers. Hummingbirds can score all day so look for the A's to throw Powell in the 1st two games. Hummingbirds are just to much, win the series 2-1.
Lets see how we do there and we will complete the predictions.
Do we have a plan B in case the rains wipe out Saturday's scheduled games? Is there a field and time schedule in place for next week's round two games yet?
I saw the Cubs / Highlander game #1 on monday. I think everyone would have agreed with Cubs sweep against your Padres pick and then even more against a 4 win Highlander team that pulled an opening round upset. But hey the Highlander/Spartans have a history of pulling out playoff upsets. Only 2 veterans remain from early days but the spunk is intact. Mix in the new guys who didn't get the "low seed memo" and you got a Quarterfinal series. Hats off to John Kalinski and Kevin Jackson for pitching that team past the Cubbies in game one. I'd say you got the defending champ Cubs' attention and Mgr McQuade and company will turn on their own playoff switch for game #2. hard to stop momentum and confidence though. Playoff baseball, I love it. See you at the Bob fellas. jreel spectator.
