In a well played game by both teams, the 55 Twins defeated the Peppers at beautiful Watervliet High School Field 10-4 on a very hot and steamy evening last night. The Twins took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first only to see the Peppers take the lead 4-2 in the bottom of the frame pounding out 4 clean hits off Twins starter, Stefan Koutsakis. The Peppers can hit. The Twins tied it in the second when Mike Ruslander drove in Jim Edelman with a scorching double to left and Rick Saidenberg , a recent world boomerang champion, delivered Koutsakis with a long sac fly to center. Saidenberg returned after a 7 week absence due to a broken bone in his right arm. Koutsakis found his groove after his rocky first inning and held the Peppers scoreless over the final six, although they did hit the ball hard numerous times that were negated by some outstanding fielding plays by the Twins. Rodriguez led the Peppers with 2 hits while Terry McCarthy had a breakout game for the Twins going 5 for 5 at the plate. Ben Phillips drove in 2 runs for the Twins in the 6th with a double over the center fielders head that came within inches of going out.
