Cubs bats sizzle in lopsided win over the Peppers.

The Cubs came to play last night on a beautifully manicured Watervliet High School Field.
They pounded out 18 hits in scoring 15 runs, in just 5 innings, to score a 15-2 win over the Peppers.

The gloves were just as impressive as the Cubbies committed just one error (on the first batter of the game).
There were some web gems, including a great sliding catch by Jim McQuade, with two outs and bases loaded,
in the first inning, when the score was just 2-1 in favor of the Cubbies. Paul Miles also made 2 or 3 fine running catches,
that few in this age division would have gotten anywhere close to.

The offense was led by Dave Mitchell, who was 3 for 3, with a HR and 3 RBI's. Mike Girard also went 3 for 3, with a
double, two singles, 2 runs, 1 stolen base, and 5 RBI's. Paul Miles, Jim McQuade, and PJ Martone all had 2 hits each.

Meanwhile, Scott Ross and Ralph Caputo combined to give up just 2 runs on 3 hits, on the bump, for the Cubbies.

Herb Carter, Taz Nichols, and Ted Witting had the hits for the Peppers. The Peppers had quite a few hard hit balls that were
tracked down by Cubs' defenders, or they would have had at least a handful more hits.

The Cubs improve to 3-1-1, with 4 games left to play in the first phase of the schedule, putting them safely in the top 4,
for the time being.

Next up for the Cubs is a game against the Cards, on Wednesday night 06/19/19, at New Scotland, followed immediately
the next night, with a tilt against the Americans, on the A-Diamond, in Schenectady.

Yeah, that was kind of ugly. Hard to overcome a ten run inning like you guys put up. Play deep they fall in front play in bombs away. Hats off to that one. All 14 Cubs came to the plate in the inning and the first ten scored. Tried hard to make it a game with our 9 walking wounded.

You have done a good job rebuilding that team.
I believe that your team will surprise one of the top teams before the season is over.
Your guys played hard right til the end, even though it got out of hand early.

That is a good sign for the future, and should attract more talent in the next few years.
Good luck the rest of the way.
