Tournament jitters, cobwebs, breaking the ice.... I do not know what to call it but the Mustangs pitcher was not overpowering and yet we could not string the hits together within an inning to pull off game one. Curt Tucker lead off the game with a double to right and we left him stranded. Don Ball got a single in the second, John Cortese hit a single in the third, Mark Marshall hit a double in the fifth, and John Weber hit a single in the ninth. Tony Parella hit in two runs during the game and that is all we managed to score. Jimmy Tesoriero pitched 5 innings( 3 scoreless)Jim Bonaparte followed with the next 3 (2 scoreless)and Chris Abrams closed the ninth inning with 7 pitches. The Mustangs made quick work to score their runs using 3 innings with some dingers over the infield and 1 to two miscues in the infield, although we almost played errorless ball today. Our 9 inning game was played in about 2 1/2 hours.. Final score Mustangs 9, Caps 2. The weather was perfect! As was the cookout afterwards by Johnny Weber. Watching Tony Parella and Chris Abrams feed 2 homeless people near the beach with a large plate of our cookout food makes you realize that life is still good. I hope to report a win tomorrow when we play our stadium game at 1pm. Mike S. Albany Caps 50+
Baseball notwithstanding Tony and Chris actions is a huge win. Congrats guys on getting the big picture. See the ball, hit the ball. Good luck the rest of the way!
