The Whiz Kids brought out the lumber as seven players had multi-hit games, and they went on to defeat the Yankees by a score of 14-4. Jim Preller went 3-5, and scattered nine hits while striking out five. Reggie Flansburg (3-5, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Andy Kramarchyk (2-5, 3 runs, 3 RBI), and Anthony Torre (2-5, RBI double) came through with clutch hits.
For the Yankees, two hits each off the bats of Paul Post, Jack Griffin, Steve VanGelder, and Joe Hervieux. Ray Demers has put together a great group of guys.
As for the Whiz Kids, they move on to the upper tier double elimination tournament. They face the Cardinals tonight at Central Park A diamond.
