How are we breaking ties in the standings?

Should TWO teams, in the top 4, end up with identical win/loss records, after all 16 games, how do we break the ties?
Assume that the two team have beat each other twice, during the regular season, so head to head record is out as a tie breaker.

... and go!

Depends on division. Managers typically vote on them at annual meeting.

head to head , then best win. then coin flip.

So, two teams that are 13-3, and 2-2 vs each other, would be decided by a coin flip?

OK.

How is it decided who gets to call heads or tails if it comes down to a coin flip?

in the situation described by Mike, when the top two are tied, you still look at their "best wins" which would go down the order instead of up , essentially looking for a worst loss.

Also I generally contact the tied teams when it comes to a coin flip and ask if they'd like to be present for the flip. Since a coin flip is inherently a 50/50 proposition I assign heads and tails to each team. If no one is present I go thru this myself and inform the teams of the result. We've had one coin flip in 28 years. We can hold a previsionary coin flip that would apply if needed.

The Giants losses would be 2 against us, and 1 against the Yankees.

The Cubs losses would be 2 against the Giants, and 1 against the Twins.

Who would win that?

I assume that it would be the Cubs because the Yankees are in the bottom 6, and the Twins are in the Top 4.

Is that correct?
