Cubs roll on with a 11-3 victory over the Yankees.

The Cubs and Yankees dodged the 4:30 pm storms that hit the capital district, and got their game in at the C-diamond in Schenectady's Central Park.

The Cubs got on the board, in the top of the 1st inning on a Paul Miles single and stolen base, followed by a Mike Girard RBI single.
They would pad that lead to 3-0 in the third inning. Jim McQuade led off with a single and a stolen base. One out later, Kevin Jackson and Skip Treece
worked back to back walks, to load the bases. A wild pitch scored McQuade, and moved the other two runners into scoring position.
Ralph Caputo came through with a RBI-single, and the Cubs handed starter Mike Girard a 3 run lead.

Girard would keep the Yankees off the score board until the bottom of the 4th. Bob Yakatan led off with a single, and was balked to second.
Paul Post would plate Yakatan with a solid single. After Post stole second, John Corrigan singled him to third, and the Yankees were threatening a big inning,
with runners on the corners and nobody out. Girard would put out the fire, inducing a pop out to short, a short fly ball to right, and a ground out to second.

The Cubs would get that run right back, in the top of the 5th, when Ron Lochner, Jim McQuade, and Kevin Jackson all singled, and Lochner scored on a wild pitch.

With the game at 4-1 entering the 6th, the Cubs bats came alive, and plated 7 runs in the inning, to break the game open. Al Williams, Paul Miles, and Mike Girard
led off the inning with singles, and two runs scored on Girard's hit. A hit batter, a walk, and a Ron Lochner RBI fielder's choice later, and the Cubs were up 7-1.
Marc Lochner, Jim McQuade, Bob Coffey, followed with RBI singles, and Skip Treece would plate the final run of the inning with a RBI single, and the Cubs were up 11-1.

The Yanks would score two, in the bottom of the 6th, to provide the final score at 11-3. After the first two batters struck out, Greg Woolston singled, and Bob Yakatan
reached on an error. Paul Post and John Corrigan, made that error hurt, by providing RBI singles.

Mike Girard got the complete game win, for the Cubs, scattering 10 hits, while walking none and striking out 6.
It was the 8th win without a loss for Girard on the season.

The Cubs will face their toughest test of the season next week with games on Monday vs the Giants and Wednesday vs the Whiz Kids.
They will enter this tough test with a record of 11-0, and the number one seed.
