The 55 Twins squared off against the Cardinals at Gruner Park last night with the Twins coming away with a 5-3 win. The Cardinals broke the ice early in the first with 2 hits and scored all three of their runs aided by 2 Twins errors. The top of the 2nd saw the Twins score 2 runs on 2 hits while the Cards made 2 errors of their own. The Twins scored 3 more runs in the third on 3 hits with the big blow being a 2 strike double by Tom King that knocked in 3 runs.
From there on out things settled down offensively and defensively and the pitchers went to work, both pitching very well.
For the Cardinals, Albert Freer pitched a complete game giving up 6 hits , 2 walks, and striking out 3 . John Sheehan went 3 for 3 from the 7th spot in the lineup. Jerry Hawkins was robbed of at least a double in the 6th when Brian Allen made a spectacular catch of an extremely hard hit high line drive in center.
