Meanwhile 3 Cubs pitchers, scattered 4 singles over the 5 innings, giving up 4 unearned runs.

Scott Ross pitched innings 3 and 4, allowing 0 runs on just one single, walking none and striking out 4 (to get the win).
Jim McQuade mopped up in the 5th, giving up an unearned run on no hits and 1 walk.

Vinnie Koster, Herb Carter, Mike Hart and Tom Japour had the 4 hits that the Peppers were able to manage.

Next up for the Cubs is the expansion Pirates, at New Scotland, on Thursday, June 7th.

Thanks, Mike. You've got a fine team. Plus, they're all good sports.

Word to the rest of the league: Move your outfielders back.

-Mike
