In the battle of expansion teams, the Dodgers beat the Pirates on a sunny evening at New Scotland.
Rick Loffredo marked his return to the CDMSBL with two strong innings on the mound. Mark Denicola followed up by controlling the strike zone for two scoreless innings. The pitching was backed up by a solid defense that turned both a 1-2-3 and a 5-4-3 double play to end Pirate rallies.
Some scheduling confusion sent Pirate pitcher Darnell Baker to the wrong field and the Dodger offense took full advantage in the first inning. Five Dodgers, Staulters, Denicola, Ball, Loffredo, Reed and Kosek turned in multiple hit games. The more patient Dodgers walked a total of eight times.
Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.

Donnie "Baseball" is being gracious. Pirates struggled against the quality arms combo of the Dodgers, and DB has two opposite field doubles himself that were scorched. Pirates growing pains were evident, as ball got kicked around in first two innings, digging a hole from which they could not recover, and Dodger arms made sure the Bucs didn't. Good win by a solid Dodgers club.
