For a variety of reasons the Capital Division will not be using umpires from the organizations that provide umpires for the other divisions. Instead we are recruiting players from the CDMSBL who would like to give umpiring a try. Here are some important details.
The Capital Division is geared towards players in the 60+ age bracket who are looking for well organized but less competitive games. The atmosphere should be pretty casual. Games will be played on Saturday mornings between June 2 and August 25. Most of the games will be played at Watervliet High School. Umpires will be paid the same fee as those who work our 55+ games (I think $55 or $60) Umpires will work the games from behind the plate.
We are having some preliminary discussions about starting a similar division for players 18 and over who were unable to find a roster spot in that division. If we are successful in that age group we will need one or two umpires for those games as well.
For anyone interested, we will be conducting a clinic on Saturday, April 28th at 10:00 AM. The clinic will be held at the Babe Ruth field at the Town of Bethlehem Elm Avenue Park. The field is located past the swimming pool and near the park office. If you have not umpired in the CDMSBL, attendance at this clinic is mandatory.
