Just got word from Jim Porter that the Whiz and Yankees' game is final: The teams tied 8-8 in 8 innings Friday night at New Scotland. Both starting pitchers, Jim Preller for the Whiz, and Chris Abrams for the Yanks went the distance. Credit them both. They did a great job, and threw, what? about 120 pitches each? Wow.
There were 5 fans there: John Reel, my Peppers teammate Brad Maione, two women who sat in folding chairs under the tree, and me. Fine game. And we didn't have to pay.
Friday's game means the as yet not final standings are:
The league standings on the Website have the Peppers in 6th place and the Twins in 7th. That may not be accurate. It's could be other way around. I've written powers-that-be for a ruling.
Playoffs still start on Monday. Play-in game: 1 v. 8, 2 v. 7, 3 v. 6, 4 v. 5.
Luck to everybody, but the reality is only half of us will have it.
