Labor Day Weekend Tournament - It's A Go

OK CDMSBLers, I have decided to put my neck out there and try to organize a Labor Day Tournament. We're not going to go crazy here and we're going to try to keep this small so it does not get out of hand. In fact, I would like a MAXIMUM of six teams. I think if we keep it small and focus on making the small tournament a success we can start growing it for future years. Here are the spec's:

- Age Bracket: 30+
- Minimum of four teams
- Round Robin resulting in playoffs
- $750 per team
- Guarantee of three games (possible five games for finalists)
- All games played Saturday 9/2 and Sunday 9/3 (unless rain - possible Monday 9/4 games)
- Games likely to be played in Schenectady Central Park and/or Bob Moore but looking at other fields for playoffs

I'm going to cap out at six teams but I'd love to get four teams in an ideal scenario. I realize that the 30+ age threshold will likely result in less of the players from the 45 and 55 divisions in our league but I have a bunch of feelers out there from other leagues in the Northeast.

I am not going to consider a team as "confirmed" until the $750 team fee has been posted.

The $750 team fee needs to be in NO LATER THAN MONDAY AUGUST 21.

Local teams: Please make sure your roster is solid and available for the entire weekend. One of the main reasons this tournament dissolved over time was the perception that the league was unprepared to handle a tournament because the local teams could not get their acts together. If we have four local teams with questionable participation, why not pare it down to two local teams with solid rosters to ensure no forfeits and no borrowing players not on rosters?

We are still working on getting some premier fields for playoffs and once we know how many games we need to schedule we will be able to shore that up so the sooner you can get your team in, the better.

So let's step it up. Let's work together to make a successful tournament. Let me know if you intend to put a team together to enter the tourney - the sooner the better!

Just realized that I didn't leave an e-mail address (for me it's the best way to get in touch).

Rob,
Just want to let you know that we are currently putting a team together from the Hudson Valley. I'll let you know once we have enough.
