The Braves played almost flawless defense and Chris Dunn pitched a complete game allowing just one unearned run for the win against a tough Bombers line up on Sunday at New Scotland. With the game tied at 1-1 going into the bottom of the 6th, Marc Luther and Dave Reed had singles to lead off the inning, and Joe Kosek bunted the runners over to 2nd and 3rd. The Bombers intentionally walked Steve Davis to load the bases and set up the force play. But Marc Trinchillo came through with a base hit right over the third base bag to give the Braves the lead 3-1, followed by another hit by Ron Lochner to make it 4-1. Braves leadoff hitter, rookie Steve Davis had a big game, gapping 2 doubles and scoring twice. Dunn has still not allowed an earned run in 45 innings pitched this year.
This was a well played game and a lot of fun to be a part of. The win puts the Braves in sole possession of first place with 6 games remaining.
