We are planning our second year of great, Memorial Day weekend baseball in Chatham. This year we will play on Saturday, May 27th. As we did last year, the game or, hopefully games, will be followed by a picnic at the Chatham Brewery. Ask anyone who attended last year if having two cold, home brews is a nice way to follow a baseball game.
We are hoping to have at least two games this year. We have reached out to players in the Berkshire MSBL and have been contacted by players in the Utica/Mohawk MSBL. We will be adding those players to the mix in the hopes of forming teams in a variety of age groups. (Side note: these groups will also be invited to participate in our July 4th activities which should add some games and excitement to that event).
But back to the Memorial Day event in Chatham. Here is the plan. Players who sign up will be assigned to an age appropriate team. We will make every effort to create balanced teams in terms of both talent and age brackets. Games will be nine-innings (unless it's over 90 degrees like it was last year) and will be played at the very nice Chatham baseball complex. Game times will be determined by your responses. The post-game festivities will include a couple of great beers (more if you are buying!) and a picnic lunch. The cost is $15/player.
I have gotten an enthusiastic response from guys in the 45+ age bracket. We would love to hear from players in the 18+ and 33+ divisions. Please contact me at dballjr@nycap.rr.com with your interest and/or questions.
