Having to play two 9 inning games, in one day, at the age of 55-65, is hard enough. Doing that on a day with not a cloud in the sky, and 95 degree heat, proved to be too much for the Braves. Most of the Burlington Angels, are from Southern California and have played many more games than us in this kind of heat, and looked more comfortable in the searing heat. A big tip of the cap goes out to the Angels who were also playing their second game of the day.
The Braves got one stand out performance in game two: Jimmy Konstantakis threw the first 4 innings, holding the Angels scoreless on 1 hit and one walk, while striking out two. Jim McQuade and Scott Ross led the Braves offense with 2 hits each. After a 23 hit/18 run attack in game one, all the Braves were able to muster in game two was a measly 10 hits and 3 runs.
Meanwhile, the Angels pounded out 12 hits and worked 7 walks in amassing a 11-3 victory.
The Braves fall to 1-1, and return to the field Sunday at 10:00 am to face the Southern California Dodgers in game 3 of 6, in the Round Robin portion of the World Series.
Meanwhile the Braves are resting and re-hydrating, trying to recharge the batteries for the Sunday contest.
