I have been hired as the JV baseball coach at LaSalle Institute in Troy. There is a small stipend being offered for an assistant coach. Good news is that this could be a great stepping stone for career-minded coaches and you'd be starting at a talented and competitive level of the Colonial Council.
Bad news is that you'd be working with me! Jesse Braverman of the Whiz Kids is the varsity coach and his career resume speaks for itself. He also coaches the Empire State Games team.
Basic requirements are flexibility to be at all practices from mid-March through mid-June and make all 20 of the regular-season games. There is no post-season at the JV level.
You will need to be dedicated to the evolution of student-athletes and have the proper temperament to coach 13-15-year-old athletes.
You will also need to be NYS certified in coaching, meaning there are a few courses you must take to be licensed. Background checks also required. (Yeah, I know, how did I pass a background check)?
