Want to see a good show tonight (Friday, 8/19)? The championship of the 55 division is on the line, at 5:45 p.m., at the B diamond in Schenectady.
The two-time champion Giants (who had a 12-2-1 mark this season) will be facing one of the two teams, the Whiz Kids (12-3), to have beaten them this year.
The Giants won the first game of three on Wednesday night at New Scotland, 9-5. It was a good game. The starters, Darrell Duncan, for the Giants, and Mike Kane, for the Whizzers, pitched well.
If the Jim Konstantakis'-managed Giants win tonight, they'll have done the remarkable: captured three titles in a row.
But if the Jim Porter-led Whizzers, who've had a remarkable season of their own, take the game, then we go to the decider, Monday, also at 5:45 at the B diamond.
So come, watch, byo tart lemonade and cheer! Besides, what else will you be doing on a Friday night?
Think of it as a picnic in the park, as fans & players proved on Wednesday.

p.p.s. i've corrected the number of titles the giants have won. it's two straight. -m.

Sorry Mike, but we have won just two in a row so far. We're working hard against a very talented Whiz Kids team to make it three in a row. But we know what they did to us this year in beating our butts, 17-2. We also know they lost to the DYankees in Game 1 of the semis before coming back to take games 2 & 3 to advance to the finals.
This is an extremely talented team and we hold the utmost respect for their players.
