Thank you Don for putting together a fun and relaxing game over the long Fourth of July weekend, a good time was had by all. Along with some enjoyable baseball being played. Also a shout out to all who played, good game and great sportsmanship, and the hot dogs afterward..........Delish!
Ditto EJ Really appreciate all the work Don did so we could enjoy a ballgame, a cookout, and a nice day with nice people. Really happy I got to see two off my all time favorite friends Ralph and Suzie Caputo! Great Day. Thank-you all. Tom Maney
Glad everyone had a good time. This is the second year that we have had a game during the 4th of July. This year we also added a great day of baseball during our Memorial Day weekend trip to Chatham. I hope we can also make that an annual event.
In its simplest form these games are just a chance to play baseball during a weekend where we otherwise wouldn't have a game. Better than that it is also an opportunity for guys to play alongside players they may not know in the league. It is also fun to watch teammates square off against each other on the diamond. Believe me the atmosphere is relaxed, the sportsmanship level is high and the quality of the baseball is excellent.
To Rob Currier's point, we should do more of these. The original intent for both the Memorial Day weekend and the 4th of July weekend was to have multiple games in multiple age groups. The only thing that was missing was more players; especially from the younger divisions. We had twenty players in Chatham and 24 players at New Scotland on July 2nd. Of those, only two guys play in the 33+ division (and they also play in the 45+ division). We'll put these games together again next season. We would love to see more divisions represented and fifty guys out there playing baseball.
Thanks Donnie for putting on the July 2nd game. It's always a good time to play a game of pick up baseball with a bunch of fellow "brothers " just because. The weather was perfect the game was fun. But the best part was socializing after the game. I'm thinking we should organize something for the labor day weekend and continue the oldest running tournament in msbl Thanks Mike for the drone video. That was awesome. John cortese
I just wanted to ad, that this is truly a game for everyone. The 'Red" team had a guy(sorry, but i can't remember his name), who was there playing his second game of baseball ever. He was learning the fundamentals of the game as we went along. Before the game while we were shagging flies in the outfield, i asked him what position he played. his response was, I don't know. That's how raw he was...ha ha. Everyone took a part in helping this man learn the game and enjoy it the way we all do. Although this guy was a little rough around the edges as far as game play goes, you can tell that he is athletic and will be a better than average player if he sticks to learning the game. He even managed to get a few hits and scored a few times.
