Avengers still in it entering the playoff finals on Saturday morning in the Twins Stadium with a 19-1 win over the Key West All-Stars in the Twins Stadium on Wednesday. Kervan pitched 2 innings with Buchan at 2B and going 2/2.
Thursday the Avengers drew the tough San Diego Padres with Buchan on the mound for the start and going a planned 3 innings. He finished with a 4-3 lead striking out 2 with 1BB and 4 hits. However the wheels kinda came off for the Avengers defensively and really lacked any continuing offensive punch for the remainder of the game with the Padres coming out on top 14-4.
Entering the playoffs however, Friday was a different day with the Avengers drawing the #1 seed 5-0 South Dakota Rushmores. Bob Sagel, a former national softball fast pitching champ, went to the mound and pitched a fine 9 innings overhand. Avengers pushed across 2 runs in the 3rd with the Rushmores answering with only one. Both teams went back and forth with base runners getting on with hits but both teams shut each other down for the remainder of the game. Final in 9 was 2-1 Avengers knocking off the #1 seed. Buchan manned 1B throughout going 1/3 with Kervan doing pinch-hit duty and getting a solid single up the middle.
So Saturday its back against the tough San Diego Padres for the Avengers with a different mindset in the Twins Stadium.
