Curt Tucker and I are looking into playing in the Holiday Classic in January at Disney World and would like to put together a 45+ team representative of the CDMSBL.
Games take place over Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Weekend at Disney World's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, FL. Games will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Friday January 15th and carry through Monday January 18th for those who make the playoffs. The tournament organizers guarantee each team a minimum of three games over the course of the weekend.
The national MSBL organization works with a travel agency to get good rates on lodging and park passes (for those interested).
Cost for the tournament is $220 per player.
We will need to know by no later than November 1 if we are going to be able to field a team of our own. If we cannot get a roster of at least 13 players by November 1 (who have committed financially) then we will have to move on and try to get onto another team - but we would really like to get a CDMSBL team together.
Please e-mail me: Robert.Currier.17@gmail.com if interested.
Echoing Rob's invitation. This tournament is not as big as the Fall Classic in November, but teams from the northeast, and other areas, are common. The 45+ Division is the oldest division in this tourney. There is no 55+ division, so any of our local guys from that division that want to play are welcome. This is only a long weekend away, so may be easier for some guys than the Nov trip. You know by mid-January you will be ready for a trip south!
Rob is coordinating the local recruiting (I'm already in the South), but feel free to reach out to me as well, ctuckermusic@yahoo.com.
We have five players who are interested - including a former CDMSBL'er who is now living in Florida! However, November 1 is coming fast and we need commitments by then.
Come on people - this is baseball... Outdoors.... In January . . . FLORIDA!!!!
Starting to take shape. We have nine who will commit if we make this a full-fledged team. If I don't get any more interest soon I will start reaching out to other local leagues and then to the player pool for this tournament on the national website, but we really want an Albany-based team.
