Cubs win, and set up showdown with the Giants!

The Cubs survived a scare from the Black Sox, and prevailed 10-5 on Sunday at New Scotland.
The Black Sox held a 5-2 lead after 3 complete innings, but the Cubs pounded out 9 hits, and scored 8 runs in their final 3 at bats to come out with a 10-5 victory.
Chris Dunn picked up the victory in relief. He came into the game, with 1 out in the 3rd inning, bases loaded, and the Sox leading 5-2, and threatening to blow the game open.
Chris struck out the next two Black Sox hitters, and the Cubs started the comeback in their half of the 4th.

They would get a single run in the inning, when Mike Girard stole 3rd base with two outs, and scored as the throw to third ended up in left field.
The Cubs would plate 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th. The rally gaot off to a great start when Mike Clary led off with a double. After a Dan Hernandez walk, Jim McQuade singled to load the bases, with nobody out.
Chris Dunn followed with a RBI single, to close the gap to 5-4. Bryce Cutler hit into a fielder's choice, to drive in the tying run.
Next up was Shawn Maney, and he flied out deep to left, driving in the go ahead run.
With two outs, Mike Girard singled in Cutler, for an insurance run.

The Cubbies would add 3 more insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th, on singles by Bobby Davis and Tom Maney; a walk by Ron Massaroni; and a 2-RBI double by Mike Clary (his 2nd consecutive double).
That is more than Dunn would need, as he pitched hitless ball in innings 5 through 7, to close out the game.

Special kudos to Black Sox slugger Joe Hauser, as he went 3 for 4, with a double and two singles. Joe has had a great season, as he was batting .436, before going 3 for 4 on the day.
Congrats HOUSE!

The win ties the Cubs at 13-2 with the Giants atop the standings. The two teams battle at New Scotland next Sunday at 3:15 pm, to decide the regular season title.
It should be another great game in the long rivalry.
Can't wait! Is it Sunday yet?!
