5-2 win for the Goldens in the first game and a 7-4 Royals win in the second. Jerry Solomon for the Marlins and the Royal's Ed Class turned in the wins. Nice field in Chatham. big ole August dog day. But I'm not complaining. Both games well played and it was somewhat predictable we'd split. Youth, in the end overcame experience. a fancy way of saying we wilted , they did not. good squad Mr. Buchan. You have had a tough schedule .
This seedings race it tight! We are at 7-6 with games against Warriors on Wed at Blatnick, and then Jays and Shasky on the weekends. These, and it looks like just about every other game yet to play, matter to some degree coming down the home stretch. I think a worthy goal is to have all the August 30th games have some bearing in the standings. I surmise that having the top 6 get byes and the other eight play a double elimination has fostered this condition. I would think the top 6 still care where they finish as would the other 8; match ups being key in both playoff formats. good luck down the stretch and have some fun.
Jerry Solomon outstanding in the heat, a very workmanlike outing on the Golden Marlins mound. Tim (The Game-changer) Brown just kept on taking advantage of every possible situation making life difficult for the Royals. Tim's great heads up play eliminated several Royals' scoring attempts in the first game as well scoring significant runs himself for the Marlins.
Royals Eddie Class distinguished himself working thru the heat in the second game retiring in the fifth only because of cramping. A gutty effort without having done much pitching this season.
A good get-together of old friends on opposite teams playing the game we love on a good field in the "dog days of August".
