After 2 complete game, 7-inning victories last week (on 1 day rest), Chris Abrams looked anything but unbeatable, giving up 5 1st inning runs to the Americans (on 4 days rest). He then proceeded to toss 6 shutout innings, and the Whiz Kids rallied to an 11-5 victory. Brian Musella continued his torrid hitting with 2 singles, 2 walks, 2 steals, and 3 runs scored. Other standouts were Jesse Braverman (2-2, 2 runs, 2 sac), John Cortese (2-3, 2 rbi), Reggie Flansburg (3-5, 2 rbi), Joe Fusaro (2 rbi), and Jim Porter (3 rbi).
For the Americans, the hit leaders were Greg Smith with 3, and Rob Rugen, Jim Wing, and Mike LaBarge with 2 each.
Congratulations to manager Brad Buchan and the rest of the Americans on a fine season. The word classy may be overused at times, but not with this bunch. True gentlemen.
