Blue Jays had a midday game on June 7, so I played spectator for a bit both before and after (next time I'll remember to wear sunscreen!). A few thoughts and observations:
1) Marlins-Braves were playing a tight, low-scoring game to start. Marlins scored first. No score yet reported. How'd it turn out? 2) Bombers-Cubs - this was the game of the day on paper, but it played across town so I didn't see it. Bombers must have come out with purpose, reporting an 11-4 win, giving the Cubs their first loss of the season. 3) Giants-Black Sox - no loss for the undefeated Giants as they continue to play like defending champs. 4) Yankees-Cougars - Cougars scored an early run, but then the Yankees took over, getting their first win of the season. 5) Shaskys-Brewers - I have no idea. Who won? 6) Blue Jays-Royals - The teams swapped first inning runs and the Royals gained another in the second. It remained 2-1 until the bottom of the 6th, when the Royals broke it open with four more. 2-hit games came from Alston, Garbarino, and Post for the Jays and Fiacco for the Royals, but the big hits both came from the Royals. With the Satellite fence up in CF and RF, it was all you could get in LF. Mark Finelli got 3 bags and Marc Fiacco got 4. It was a good, competitive game. 7) Cyclones-Warriors - Wrriors came from behind to take this high-scoring affair. 8) No Decoy Rule - the real point of this rambling post -- in the 'clones/'riors game, with a runner on third, the catcher faked a throw to third base (which is fine) and the third baseman faked a catch and tag, which induced a slide by the runner (which is not fine). The runner's manager questioned the play, but the umpires neither seemed to notice the move nor know anything about the Decoy Rule (CDMSBL Rule 5-8a). No action was taken and the game continued. But it highlighted for me the fact that not everyone knows all of the specialized rules of CDMSBL. It's worth every member giving them a read once a year, and every manager mentioning the specialized rules to their teams. (and, yes, I know that defensive players can fake actions under certain circumstances, as stated in the rules; this was not one of those circumstances). In my 3 years in the league, I've seen this rule implemented once; this should have been a second time, and that runner would have scored. I will say that the fielder appeared to make his move instinctively, not out of any ill-intent, but he also may not have been aware of the rule. The safety rationale for this rule becomes all the more compelling in a game which saw a delay as a player, following an on-field collision, was escorted away in an ambulance. I hope that fella's okay!
Following a Marlins' victory at New Scotland, the Shaskys and Brewers took the field for a well-played game of baseball. The teams traded offensive threats and defensive stops through the first five innings. The Brewers scored two in the bottom of the 6th to take a 3 - 2 lead. The Shaskys quickly loaded the bases in the top of the 7th and a sac fly by Mike Camoin plated the tying run. An infield single by Ramon Bidot drove in the go ahead run and a bases clearing double by Tom Hoag gave the Shaskys their 7 - 3 victory.

Someone from the Warriors could provide better information about the injury. Their LF, CF, and SS converged on a ball falling between them. Trying to make the catch and avoid each other led to an awkward fall/collision, and someone, CF or SS, got I think kicked in the face. Clearly dazed, he was down for a bit, and when his first attempt to walk off on his own proved unsuccessful, the EMT was called.

(thanks for the update, Don!)

You should have seen Wayne two years ago when he took a knee to the head. He was messed up for weeks!

Curt Tucker 45 Blue Jays, Manager
It goes further than managers and players - umpires need to know this rule as well. There were two separate incidents in a Bears game last year where the same player from the opposition TWICE induced a slide by faking a tag with no throw. After the first one I asked the manager to speak with his players about the rule and he agreed to, yet it happened again. When I asked the umpire to enforce the rule for the second offense I was essentially told that my players weren't "good enough" to have the ruling in their favor.
Talent level doesn't factor into safety and umpires should be aware that this rule exists as a matter of player safety.

When I was playing second in a 45's game in 2013, there was a runner on first and the ball was hit to ss. I covered second and the throw came to me. I caught it at the bag and was hit in the head by the runners forearm about a second after i received the ball. I held on to the ball, but it was quite a shot I took from the runner. He easily weighed 220. I am 175. My neck hurt for a month. The ump said he didn't see anything
Gentleman,
there are still openings for fall kickball.last year was a great success, everyone had fun,and there were no injuries to report other than some hurt feelings when the trophies were handed out. Apparently, all the trophies looked the same, and there was no way to tell the winners from the participant awards. The executive board decided to have the teams hug it out. We had to do away with the " I kicked it farther than you " award, as we didn't want to leave any permanent scars on anyone's psyche. We are looking to expand into more divisions so that the less coordinated can have a chance to feel as if they are playing in a "competitive atmosphere". As always, any and all suggestions to improve our game will be given the proper review to ensure everyone is accorded the same respect as others.
Live long and prosper.

Agree 100%. There is nothing in the world more annoying than those who are part of the problem instead of part of the solution.
As i understand it, the rule is that when there is a play at second the runner must slide or move to avoid. The runner I referred to did neither . Rather he came in to the bag high and there was a collision that should never had happened. Are you saying that it is problem that I noted this ? A malicious hit is a malicious hit. Period. Sports have rules . If they are not followed or enforced, it isn't sport anymore. It's an 8th grade gym class.
