Oh what a night at Blatnik Park. The winless Pirates took on the Warriors and it was a pitchers duel for sure. Dave Perry for the Pirates and Jay Goldberg for the Warriors.
Fast forward to the bottom of the 7th. Dave Perry just pitched 7 innings with no earned runs 16ks and he even had 2 putouts himself. So he had 18 of the 21 outs himself yet he was down 6-2 going into the bottom of the 7th. Jay Goldberg was dealing a gem also. He had 11ks and only 2 runs. So it wasnt looking good for the Pirates.
The inning started with a K. Then our next batter reached on an error. That brought up the pitcher Dave Perry who hit a pop up to third that dropped due to the wind. So it was first and second with 1 out. Then the top of the order and Joe Careccia singles in a run making it 6-3. Then Nick Kerns singles to load the bases. Goldberg strikes out the next hitter making it bases loaded 2 outs and Billy Bowles at the plate.
On a 2-2 pitch he sent the ball deep into the Niskayuna night and over the left centerfield wall.
However, the wind played no role with Bowles' shot. That was a no-doubter. That's what I get for thinking I am 21 and can blow it by everyone. Well done Billy, well done.
