with the others who've written here, i too found mike's passing, at 48, shocking and sad. mike was one of the original peppers, in the team's first incarnation from 2000-2007, and in addition to bringing a good bat and fine play at first, he gave us all the gift of his upbeat personality. for a team that lost more than it won, that's no small gift. in fact, it was large one and helped carry us from week to week.
mark twain once wrote that we should "try to live in such a way that when we die, even the undertaker will be sorry." i'm sure that everyone who knew mike feels that way.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 27, 2015, from 4 to 8 p.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28 at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
