Albany 60 yr. olds make ring run in the Hobbs

After 9 hard fought games , a few 10 or 11 innings , we lost our bid in the championship game . Either the task of getting there with too few bodies , or a cold shoulder from the baseball gods proved to be our demise . Just one or two more players and wammo a ring ! Thanks to all of my teammates for hanging in there and to Jimmy K for playing hard and organizing . We all know how close we got and how difficult it was so I won't elaborate any further.

While in Ft Myers, I stopped by to catch part of the Albany 60s game at Terry Park Stadium and it was good to see a good Albany team assembled by JimK playing competitively in the Hobbs Tourney. Congratulations to you guys on the effort and representation of CDMSBL. Do it again boys.

Hell of a run men...... It was fun watching ur brackets as u progressed thru the tourney! Then there was the division seeding, no bye, then Friday, then Saturday......wow, impressive. The war of attrition nipped u in the end! Can't wait to hear the stories of ur battles...... Definitely right John La Torre, it's very difficult to win it ALL! Let's see, in about a week and a half ur bodies might be recovered? Next time gotta bring a bigger number of bodies. What's the waiver age?? Congratulations!

15 games in 12 days, 9 in the last 7 which included 4 in the last two days. Our 55 Division teams play 15 games all year!
Making it to the championship game was quite an accomplishment for guys our age. The team that won the title - top-seeded Michigan Stars out of Detroit - drew two byes and played just one game Friday and the one against us Saturday. Their coach told me they had all three starters rested and ready for us. They were a class bunch of guys. And, as it turns out, one is from Greenville, N.Y., and knows Joey Burns well!

While there are kudos to go around to every single player, what Jerry Solomon did was nothing short of miraculous. Seven innings in a win Tuesday, then 6 2/3 innings in a game we won Friday in 12 innings, then 9 innings in a win Saturday to get us to the championship game. I doubt Hobbs or MSBL has ever seen anything like it in our age group.

congratulations albany hobbers!

there must be a category for what y'all did in the guinness book of world records.

if not, suggest you write them to create one. seriously.

to play 15 games in 12 days is to put aged tendons, already turned to iron after three or four games, at the breaking point.

you could put it under the heading of "geezer greatness."

way to go.
