Steve Van Gelder is taking a team 56 and over in that division's inaugural MSBL National tournament. Steve did a lot of work to assemble a strong team to represent CDMSBL as MSBL returns the tournament to the West Coast of the Sunshine State.
The tournament in the Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater area runs the same week as the 45 Cubbies with Steve's Game 1 scheduled for 5 p.m. this Monday - at the Blue Jays brand spanking new stadium against a team from Pennsylvania.
Steve will have fun managing this roster: Bill Smith; Bob Noto; Chris Abrams; Chuck Stanley; Dave Booker; Earl Mitchell; Eric Nolting (catcher from New Orleans who we have played against in the past); Jerry Solomon; Joe Hervieux; Marc Tryon; Matt Kelly; Mike Eplite; Mike Labarge; Scott Ross; Skip Treece; Tim Brown; Tony Nardacci; Jim Konstantakis.
The following week, the National Wind will try to duplicate last year's run at a ring, but take it a step further in the Roy Hobbs World Series in Fort Myers. After going 5-0 in the Round Robin, we were eliminated by Cincinnati in the playoffs. This year's roster: Terry Barton (Denver/CF); Jerry Hawkins; John La Torre; Tom Maney; Bill Smith; Jerry Solomon; Jim Reynolds (Calif./1B); Tim Brown; Bob Yakatan; Paul Watson; Chuck Stanley; Tim Urban (Milwaukee/1B); Bill Aresnault (Maine/C); Ralph Caputo and Jim Konstantakis.
Thanx to all the guys from all three teams for representing CDMSBL. Mostly, thanx to their families for their support.
