The Capital District Cubs are finishing our preparations for our run in the 2014 Fall Classic in Clearwater, Florida (45+ Wood Bat Central Division). Two years ago, a similar bunch made a run all of the way to the semi-finals, where we ran into a fully sponsored team and came up just a little short. This time we have been working much harder to get these "experienced" bodies in baseball shape. We face the daunting task of facing 13 other talented 45+ teams from around the US, and playing NINE 9-inning games in just 6 days. We have assembled the following roster to take on this task: Jim McQuade, Mike Girard, Dave Mitchell, Randy Craft, Shawn Maney, Ron Massaroni, Chris Dunn, Jon Martin, Ted Martin, Carlos Llera, John Corrigan, Bob Davis, Mike Labanowski, Ralph Caputo, Steve Lounello (maybe), John Ingram (Florida pitcher), and Jerry Solomon. We begin Round Robin play next Monday morning, and play 5 games in 4 days. On Friday the playoffs begin. If we do not get one of the two byes in our division, then we will play 2 playoff games on Friday, followed by the semi-finals and finals on Saturday. A tough schedule for bodies that are not used to so much baseball in so few days, but all of the teams face the same task. I believe we have what it takes to bring back the rings! Wish us luck!!!
