i Hate To Do It Buuuuut...........The Giants Win The Pennant.......The Giants Win The Pennant!

The 2014 New York Giants started out the season meekly and unimpressive but finished up with the 45 Division trophy. The New York Bombers are a scary bunch of hitters - I thought we did a good jib of taming their powerful bats in key situations. Pitching & Defense!

The story of the best of 5 series (great idea whoever thought of the 5 game format) was New York Giants pitching a defense. Bobby Bolt and Joe Burns are the Co-MVP'S of the series. Both pitched outstanding against a very tough (and powerful) lineup. This was Bobby Bolt's swan song - he is hanging up his gear. Bobby is definitely a CDMSBL Hall of Fame candidate.................he's absolutely going into the Giants HOF. Joey Burns is without question our MVP this year!

OK, the big plays of the last two games...........The turning point of the final game.........Big Pete Geannelis (all 6'4" - 235lbs. of him) lays down a perfect bunt for a hit with guys on 1st and 2nd - THAT opened up the inning for a bunch of runs.

The final score of saturday's game was 13-8. The final score of yesterday's gamewas 6-1. Notable performances:
Carlos Llera had three hits
Jan Friedman hit a big fly on Saturday
Bobby Bolt had three hits on Saturday
Wayne Phillips had three hits on Saturday
Mike Labanowski had two hits
Mario Arduini rrrrrripped a laser double to open up Saturday's game
Mike Kane had two (or three) hard hits yesterday
Doug Reisinger, Ron Smaka hit the ball well

Bombers:
Ryan Johnson had like 30 hits in 20 at-bats. The last one being a one-handed homerun!
Rich Royka (spelling) was a hitting machine - line drive after line drive
Tony Parella had us running all over the field
Lex had a few well-timed hits
Darin Ambridge went big fly on Saturday and pitced his azz off yesterday (as usual).

For two years, I hammer "Pitching & Defense" into our heads........... that's what wins championships! Held true again this year.

Looking at next year (already) - the Cubs (Marlins) are the team to beat in my opinion even if Randy Craft holds true to his retirement plans.

Finally to my guys.........its a pleasure to "manage" such a good bunch of ballplayers. Looking forward to Pete and his Bahama Mamma party!

Congratulations to the Giants..!! Outstanding team from top to bottom...and I'm not surprised what a healthy Joe Burns brings...no surprise either Bobby Bolt ,great, great competitor..
Looking forward to next years Cub/Giants thrillers...I think the early schedule has us playing each other 9 times...:)
