The Royals instituted a 6AM wake up call both mornings this weekend to insure we were awake and past the dreaded "sleep inertia" (Sorry Mike i couldn't resist! )
Saturday turned out to be all Royals and the combination of strong pitching, strong defense and solid offense led to a 17-0 final in game 1. Highlights include a 2+- hitter by Atwell, great defensive plays in the outfield by Finelli and DeBlasis, a home run from Atwell and a Grand Slam by Hurlbut.
Sunday started out differently with a tight game for four innings. Royals built a 4-0 lead before the Yankees cut it to 4-2. Royals answered with 3 to make it 7-2 before the Yankees added 2 more in the bottom of the 4th to make it 7-4 after 4. Royals responded with 10 in the top of the 5th to put it away and that was it for the scoring ending in a 17-4 final. Highlights include more great outfield play, a strong outing on the mound by Samarija and a homer by Van Gelder.
johnny - congratulations you to you and your royals teammates.
and thanks for proving the scientists right: if y'all were up by 6 a.m., it meant y'all had four hours to erase sleep inertia's effects. now, i don't know if you heard, but because of field conflicts, the league is thinking of starting next week's games at 8 a.m.
so hope you're all ready for that 4 a.m. wake-up call!

Sad part is i can't sleep past 4 AM many days..... it's a vicious cycle because i am so tired from getting up at 4 that i fall asleep at 9 and then i am rested by 3 or 4 so i wake up ..... and on and on it goes.
I've managed to wake up before my kids go to sleep
