45 playoff rainouts protocol

The same protocol rules are in place for rainouts as the regular season. Home team is responsible to arrive at the field more than 60 minutes before the start of the game. If not playable, the first call is to the umpires. Repeat, the first call is to the umpires. Then the opposing manager and your players.

Regarding a suspension of play, we will go by the Major League rules. In the Major League Baseball postseason, all games stopped at any time for weather are considered suspended and continued from the point of stoppage when play resumes, no matter if the game has not reached the regular season game requirements. This rule was put into place as a result of Game 5 of the 2008 World Series, which was the first postseason game in history to be suspended and resumed from the point of suspension. Prior to 2008, a playoff game had to be official in order to be suspendable; a playoff game stopped prior to that point had to be started over. An example was Game 1 of the 1982 National League Championship Series which reached the top of the fifth inning but had to be restarted from scratch the next day.

Darkness is the same rule.

Not sure if everyone has Mark Fitch's phone number or what as this same issue came up in the 30 playoffs as well with possible rainouts... And well, for whatever reason(s), arbiter does not send out game plans (dates, place, umps) as it does during the reg season... So it's obviously kinda hard to call the umps when you aren't informed of who they are or what their number is, so I just called Mark and he took care of the assigned umps...
He also told me that even though they didn't send out the assignments during the playoffs that you could still log into the arbiter website and find them. However, I didn't see them when I logged in as it's a maze of a website and so again, my plan is to more simply just call Mark and let him take care of the individual umps unless I am somehow informed prior as to whom else to directly call...
Mark's number is 527-9227 for those of you who don't have it as he has always been very prompt and helpful with any of these type situations that arise...
And considering there's an 80% chance of thunderstorms and B Diamond does NOT drain well at all (C does though), I have a feeling I may well be speaking with him very soon regarding our playoff game later today...
