Chris Abrams tossed 5 shutout innings, and the Whiz Kids scored 6 1st-inning runs to defeat the Marlins 9-3 Monday night. The New Scotland field was able to absorb the rainfall that postponed the scheduled game between the Peppers and Yankees at the satellite field. Abrams scattered 6 hits, and helped his own cause with a 1st inning RBI single. Blaise Agnew had a 2-run single in the frame, and John Cortese had a sac fly. Mike Labanowski had a night, going 2-3 with 2 singles, 2 runs, 1 RBI, and 2 steals. Dennis Buckley pitched the 6th, and came back to relieve in the 7th, not allowing an earned run. For the Marlins, hard luck Don Burriesce pitched better than the final score indicates, going the distance on a hot and humid night. Joe Sarubbi and Tom Foley had 2 hits apiece. Always a pleasure to see Ed Diegel and the rest of the Marlins. Jim Porter Whiz Kids
