get up, get out, get going: hup, hup, hup


come on, guys, if you're free, how 'bout cranking your posteriors off your couches next wednesday (1/29) evening to get some good exercise for an hour ?

the 45+ dodgers' john cortese has arranged for exercise trainers he uses to give us a group workout at their albany offices from 5:30
to 6:30 pm. the sessions will be once a week for eight weeks.

i'm going - as are ed class and ralph caputo - but we could use six, eight, ten more guys. part of that's personal: the more guys
who come, the less everybody pays. (right now it's $20 for the hour; if we get 8 guys, i understand that goes down to about $10).

but part's also a great way for guys to start on getting in shape for the upcoming season: we'll be taught by professional trainers, who,
john tells me, will show us exercises to improve our flexibility, mobility, strength and speed.

other than exercising brain cells, what's left? besides, harvard just came out with a study (it was on nbc tv last night) that
vigorous exercise every other day and 7.5 hours or more of sleep a night can help prevent prostate cancer.

there, now that i've encouraged you and maybe scared you, come on, put a post-it note reminder somewhere and show up. if
nothing else, you'll get a chance to razz some fellow players and be razzed in return. what could be better, especially when it's
5 degrees outside?

come dressed in your workout clothes with a towel. you'll have to shower at home.

the sessions are being held at the RJN physical therapy office. it's located at 3 Atrium Drive, albany 12203 [off Everett Road].
