Way to go fellas

After a dominant and exciting 3 game pool that saw the Maine Diamond Dogs go 3-0... It looked like we were destined for a shot at the defending champions the Boston Wolf Pac. The star studded Wolf Pac featuring Doug Flutie seems to own this tournament. Maine ran into adversity in the first round of the playoffs facing an unorthodox throwing lefty who was made into Cy Young by the fact that the umpire was ringing up guys on pitches 6-8 inches off the plate. Yes it's part of the game but in this game this one gentlemen effectively took the bats out of the hands of several of Maine's best hitters. I hate when umpires do this! An unfortunate part of the game...Maine lost to the Chicago Blue Jays 5-4... U win as a team and lose as a team.... Was fun to get to know some great ball players from Maine, Virginia and Rhode Island....Clair Crandall did a great job putting together this team. Our Albany guys all contributed and did us proud... Ricky Caruso's bat was loud with a key triple tieing game three in the bottom of the ninth and breaking the ice with an RBI single in first game of playoffs.. Steve Hutchinson ran down, not one but 2 bombs from the Chicago blue jay #3 batter. One on his horse deep to his right in left to snag one at the foul pole and the second the opposite way in the gap deep..... Huge....Major league catches that had that poor guy talking to himself! Mike Ferraro had a tremendous first day catching and hitting in the double header then the injury bug bit him with 2 weird injuries. His left forearm got injured catching hard throwing Ron Girard from Maine and right bicep sustained a tear or strain while stealing a base! That messed up the rest of the tournament for mike... We really were hoping for a date against the wolf pac but not this year....
