The New York Giants assembled for a dinner at Maggie's Restaurant this evening to send off Paul Scutieri who is moving to Palm Springs,CA on January 2nd. Paul has been a very good ballplayer in our league for 15 years: We are absolutely going to miss Paul's talents and team first attitude on the field but will miss him just because he's a good guy!
We're certainly wishing Paul and Michelle the very best on their new adventure . I guess if you're going to move.........Palm Springs is probably a pretty great place to move to. We're hoping Paul will come back for a visit, throw on his #29 and take a few swings.
i'm sorry to hear you're leaving, paul. you've been a great asset to the giants and the league.
our loss is palm springs' gain. if they don't have a league there, i hope you'll have the time and energy to start one. if they have one, they'll get a hitter with a great batting eye. i could almost never get you to bite on a pitch outside the zone.
Tough to know where to start. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to John Reel and his various supporting cast who, over the years, have worked tirelessly to build this league into what it is today, so we all can just show up, play baseball, build lifelong friendships and have a lot of fun. You don't realize, or I suspect many of you do, how big a part of your lives this all is, or what you have until you are walking away. I have so many memories and am thankful for each and every one of them. I will never forget the Orioles/Marlins, Giants/Marlins rivalries over the years...classics and I loved every inning of them. Thank you to you all, the players, the umpires, the families/friends of the players so many of whom I've gotten to know over the years, it is indeed a "baseball family" and is my pleasure to have been a part of it all.
Paul; I winter in Cohoes, but I wish you the best in Cali.
A CDMSBL allstar, batting champion, and league champion, you may be remembered best for your humility and class. I feel soo fortunate to have spent one labor day weekend as your teammate.
When the Mets held Willie Mays night at Shea in 1973, the scoreboard read: So long, yes; good-bye, never. And so it goes, Pauly. Lacing 'em up in the spring won't be the same without you. Thanx for being a Giant. A perfect match!
