Ok, so what's the deal with the 35's going to 30 and over? It seems a little in-congruent that we have almost a 1,00 views on a topic where the main rationale for instantaneously changing a major rule on player movement was that GM's needed to be shown some "respect" and allowed an adequate amount of time to recruit should players opt out of their current situations w/said team...
But now there has been a full week since the board meeting and where there was a vote with not even an ounce of consideration given to the existing 35 GM's as to what they thought about the idea... And so it was passed and then rescinded based at least partially upon the obvious fact that the 35 GM's should indeed be given at least some voice in whatever forum possible as to the discussions around the idea.
And so, are we going to vote on it or what as I have had no official communications about the plan and much as with the free agency change, we need time to formulate our recruiting efforts and look at what our team situation(s) may or may not be given a major change such as this...
But step one is simple ~ does last week's vote stand or are we (35 GM's) going to get a chance to vote on it or what? And does our vote even matter if we do?
As the irony for me is that neither my team nor I really care that much one way or the other what the decision is, but we ALL obviously need to know as we'd like to start assuring some of the 30 year old's we know and who are interested actually have a place to count on playing if that's the way it's going to go... And vice-versa...
We just need a decision, regardless of what it is... So>>> Are we just supposed to talk ad nausea about the free agency rule (which really makes no difference btw) and forget the other MAJOR parts of who the player movement is affecting or what? Seriously, the age grouping matters FAR more then existing players moving w/in a bracket as was said, it's really just a courtesy and not actually binding as guys can still be free agents after 31Oct...
But uh yeah, 35, 34, 33, 30 ~ that is a hard line in the dirt that needs to be clarified pronto so as we are not wasting our time and energy on people who are not even close to eligible should it remain 35...
Board voted to explore the notion with the 35+ GM's ; to lower or adjust the age. the meeting has been set up to do that, among other things. word got out it was a vote to go to 30 which it was not. see you at the meeting . jreel
I'm proud to say I played in the 35s, and found it was a great division--very tough--very competitive--the important thing is to make sure players younger than 45 have a team to play on, so, GMs have to be supported--personally, I think the 18 division and the 25s need support too--and these divisions should be given help if needed---budget concerns--there is fat in the budgets--the economy is terrible--there have been huge efforts made to get fields available--that should be rewarded----the upcoming 35 meeting will clarify things I'm sure--the meeting is next week and the GMs will be there
if it was up to me, I'd like to see electronic strike zone machines, scoreboards, dugouts and bullpens on every field we play on
