New Scotland

A clay brick and clay mound gravel has been planted in front of the pitching plate.
A pitcher nearly injured his ankle making a pickoff attempt to first base. The hole was so deep that you could see the base of the plate.

We also put in some mound clay to fill in the landing spot and eliminate the bump. Plus we put in some clay in the batters boxes.

Hopefully, that will hold up for the last two weekends of the season.

It was suggested that pitchers repair the mound immediately after each game. That will certainly be considered for next year along with other suggestions. To dig holes that deep - or to dig any holes for that matter - is something many pitchers, including myself, will never understand. But for those of you who insist on doing it, you should then fix it after the games.

I agree with you Jim there is no need to dig holes. Thanks for everything you do at the fields.
