Quarterfinals - matchups and predictions!!

Should be some exciting games this weekend as the 45 division rolls into the quarters....the matchups:

Giants/Blue Jays ...Jays knocked off the Black Sox to advance against the regular season champ Giants...On paper this looks like a mismatch, as the Giants boast the best hitting line-up in the division, and have MVP candidate Bob Bolt on the mound. However, Artie always seems to have his team ready to go in the playoffs, as they went to the semis last year. In the end though, Giant bats should lead the way.....Prediction: GIANTS SWEEP

Royals/Golden Marlins...This should be a very close series. Royals come in as the hottest team in the division, riding a 7 game winning streak. In the only meeting of the season, the Royals eeked out a one-run victory. Royals will ride the arm of Jon Atwell, who was perfect in the regular season. The Marlins counter with a very potent offence, led by perenial all-star Mike Girard, and have a deep staff as well. A healthy Jim Ansel could be the difference. Expect the Marlins to find a way to get it done with all their experience..Prediction: MARLINS IN 3

Reds/Shaskys...Shaskys could be the surprise team in the division this year, amassing 10 wins, before disposing of the Cougars in the first round. The Reds, behind manager Dave Vanwormer had a solid season, and defeated the Shaskys in their only meeting this year. The Reds have the deepest pitching in the division, with rookie Chris Dunn joining Ron Massaroni, Jon Martin and Joe Burns. Expect the Reds arms to keep the Shaskys in check...Prediction: REDS SWEEP

Yankees/Dodgers...This is the toughest series to call.Yanks came from behind twice,to sweep both ends of a doubleheader from the Dodgers in one run games. Very evenly matched teams. The Dodgers are the healthiest they have been all season, and should score some runs. Expect the Yankees to utilize Lex Herlett on the mound during the playoffs to compliment Darrin Ambridge, who had an outstanding season on the bump. Yankees were the comeback kids all season.John Corrigan's Dodgers lost a slew of close games this season, so with some good bounces they could be very dangerous. This series definately goes 3 games, all close...
Prediction: DODGERS IN 3

Good luck to all teams!!

Hahaha ~ maybe, I dunno...
Wouldn't surprise me though...
Plus it would help explain the initials dp as they must like it in both ends ~ anonymously so of course... Like Seinfeld used to say, "not that there's anything wrong with that" of course, just saying...

Either way, time for talking is over in a little more then 24 hours and besides, rather then cry about it like some, I appreciate it for what it is and see it as "bulletin board material" to use constructively as anyone is free to have and voice any opinion they want ~ the games aren't decided that way...
And my confidence in our talent level is as high as ever ~ if not MORE so...

The bye actually helped us heal up and we just have to do what we do ~ the opponent is not of any real consequence...
Kinda like golf and the tourney I'm going to now with some guys from my 35 team, we just have to make birdies (and eagles of course) and the rest will take care of itself...
Scrambles in golf are easy when you have 4 studs, and baseball is a MUCH easier game too when you have a team full of 'em like we do...
We began the year with ONLY one goal in mind and now it's time to go get it done...

And good luck to you too Mike as I am definitely intrigued by your series for obvious reasons... That one could seriously go either way and neither way would surprise me... I will say it would be kinda weird to have you on the sidelines and everyone else playing so early in the proceedings... Seriously, I think the only time you haven't advanced this far was exactly how we started our "relationship" a couple of years ago when I was new to the league and a 45 rookie and while you were the defending Champs, I said we'd take care of business against you in the quarters ~ which we did rather easily ~ only to uh, yeah ~ lose to the Giants in the Finals...

And at the same time, you still have a team full of studs yourself and can beat ANYONE on a given day ~ so you could still defend your Championship if you have your hitting shoes on... So yeah, it's possible... Heck, any of the 8 teams have a chance, but the Giants are the CRYSTAL clear team to beat and there's only one place we can get another shot at them ~ The Finals of course...

Anyways, off to the Van Patten and then it's time to turn the heat up and ALL baseball for the next 3 weeks or so depending on weather (and yep, the game outcomes)...

Let's get it on!

Just don't say that around dp!

If you guys both take care of business this weekend you'll be matched up next weekend!! That may make for some great bulletin board fodder!!

I wouldn't look past this weeks opponents though..........!
