if the stinkin bills receiver caught that 3rd down pass at midfield it would be an outstanding day ...... although i will say that being a bills fan has taught me to handle losing well
anyway
The Dodgers faced the Braves in game 2 of a best of 3 series and came out on top in a pitcher's battle between Erik Samarija and Jim Bonaparte. Dodgers were the visitors and notched two in the first on a Corrigan leadoff double, a Parella single, a sacrifice fly by Altobelli and an error. Just like yesterday the Braves answered right back on a Gougler single, Figueroa walk and an error to cut it to 2-1 after 1.
The Dodgers would add 1 in the second on singles by Cortese, Labarge and Corrigan to go up 3-1 after 2 innings.
Dodgers threaten after that but leave runners on base in scoring position in innings 3 to 6 but couldn't capitalize. Braves strand a runner on first in the 3rd and 6th and Dodgers turn a 6-4-3 DP n the 5th to get to the top of the 7th with a 3-1 lead. The Dodgers add two more in the 7th on two errors and three bloop / seeing eye singles, another Altobelli sac fly and enter the bottom of the 7th up 5-1. After a leadoff single by Bonaparte the next batter Briscoe hit a ball to center that CF Hicks made another great play for the first out. Another fly ball and an infield popup ended the game.
Hats off to a great Braves team in their first year with some prospects already signed ..... great job by Steve and his team
Dodgers move on to face the Yankees... this time with Tony Parella, Jim Hicks, Darrell Duncan, Wayne Newcomb and Mike Labarge

Yeah, my Falcons stalled at the 3 and couldn't punch it in either, so that's not off to the greatest start for me either John...
And all I'm gonna say about our upcoming extravanganza next weekend is that well, fun is sure to be had by all and uh yeah, it doesn't matter who you bring to the table, we AIN'T the Braves bro!
Looking forward to getting back at it as this is when the fun REALLY begins!
Good Luck!
It isnt smack it is a reality, We aint the Braves. You are interpreting that as smack , Mark was pointing out that we are the Yankees! no smack just the truth, We beat the Dodgers already, and if they feel that with their guys coming back they have a chance so be it, BUT we have guys who didin't play in our game against them as well who will be back should be interesting series
If you can't understand how the "AIN'T no Braves" comment is derogatory to the Braves, then there's no point trying to enlighten you. The point could easily have been made without mention of any other team.
It's really just about character and class. Some men have it, some don't.
As far as i am concerned the Braves could be a model for how to start an expansion team ...... they are a classy group of guys and good baseball players.
They won their first two games ... and played well against many of the tougher teams.
I will echo the compliments to the Braves for their successful first season. I'd also like to give a plug to the Blue Jays and Shaskys for advancing to round two. The Blue Jays for their well-played victory over the Black Sox. In two of their three year existence, the Blue Jays have surprised teams in the playoffs. The Shaskys for winning our 11th and 12th games of the season on our way to round two. I would respectfully submit that Tim Burns/Tony Grocki should be included in the conversation for Manager of the Year.
