I don't have the details, but here's an overview of today's Blue Jays v. Black Sox DH in round one of the 45+ Playoffs, held at Satellite Field.
In Game 1, the Blue Jays scored 2 in the top of the first, then gutted out a tight 2-1 victory, marked by solid pitching and defense by both teams. Rich Garbarino got the complete game win for the Blue Jays, while John Pologa was the hard luck loser despite his strong complete game.
In Game 2, the Black Sox strung together a bunch of solid base hits to run out early and even the series with a comfortable 10-1 win. Again, pitching and defense were pretty strong for both teams. Again both starting pitchers went the distance. Jerry Solomon got the win for the Black Sox. The Blue Jays just didn't muster enough support for Scott Ross, who took the loss.
The rubber match comes early Sunday morning, again at Satellite. The winner gets a date with the top-seeded Giants; the loser closes the book on the season and regroups.
It's already been a good series. Should continue in game 3, though I can't help but wonder whether any 45+er relishes playing 3 games in less than 24 hours. Let's hope we're all standing (and walking and running) when it's all done!

Great to see Rich Garbarino back on the hill for the Blue Jays. Certainly doesn't surprise me that he went the distance. A tip of the cap to an original Blue Thunder ace.
