Dodgers beat the Braves 8 to 6 today in game number one in the first round best of 3 series.
Chuck Sohl versus Mark Denicola on the mound. Scoring started in the bottom of the first on a Hicks HR to put the Dodgers up 1-0 after 1. The Dodgers add 7 in the bottom of the 3rd on an error followed by a Conlin double, Corrigan single, Hicks single, a 3 run bomb by Parella, and singles by Altobelli, Samarija and Sohl to go up 8 to 0 after three.
Braves answer right back in the top of the 4th on singles by Trinchillo and Figueroa, a Bonaparte walk and singles by Briscoe and Schaeffer to cut it to 8-2. Braves add two more in the 5th on a leadoff single by Dilbone, an error and a single by Gougler.
Darrel Duncan returned to action after a month recuperating and pitched the 7th which was a welcome sight. After two straight strikes to start out he walked the ten hitter to bring up the top of the lineup. A single by Trinchillo and a double by Denciola plated two more and cut it to 8 to 6 but a fly out to left and ground ball to third ended the game.

John you guys played solid ball today and that big 3rd inning proved to be enough to stave off any comeback by us.your Dodger team is a team that will be right in the thick of the playoff run( IF you can finish us tomorrow) We are coming out to battle even though we will be losing some key players to family commitments.Good luck tomorrow and again good game today...PS my fat thumb hit the (1) star rating instead of the reply button which I meant to hit.Your article was at least a (3) Mark
Thanks Mark .... i've told Steve all along that you guys have done an outstanding job from the very beginning of the organizing stage and have played well all season long.
I don't think we keep any stats along these lines but you have had a ton of success for an expansion team and i'm sure you will continue to improve.
One question though .... why do you bunt so much when you can rip a double to the fence like that??
Thanks John..steve really has done a great job pulling this altogether.as you know it takes a lot of work to run a team and steve deserves all the credit for that.As for me bunting...a lot is situational but i like to swing away every now and then.lol see you tomorrow Mark
I echo Mark's comments. The Dodgers are a first class group of guys. Thanks for the kind words, but I couldn't do it all without drawing on Mark's extensive experience and involvement in the game of baseball from both a player and coaching perspective. Also, having a great group of guys like we have on the Braves makes the GM job easy.
Mark, in case I don't talk to you, you're swinging away. Mums the word.
