The WhizKids defeated the Americans 11-3 Tuesday night. Jim Konstantakis went the distance,, scattering 10 hits and allowing 2 earned runs. The WhizKids took a 1-0 lead in the 1st when Jeff Teats singled, stole 2nd, and scored on a single by Mike Lannon. They added 5 more in the 2nd inning. Dave Palmer started things off with a single. He went to 2nd on an error, and scored on a single by Jim Porter, who was out at 2nd as he thought he could stretch that single into a double. (The mind was willing, but the body was weak!). Singles by Joe Torre and Ed Draves, sandwiched around a walk to Konstantakis, loaded the bases, and then Tom Maney, Teats, Ralph Caputo, and Bill Smith had RBI's. Maney had a 2-run single in the 4th, driving in Torre and Konstantakis, both of whom singled, and moved up on a groundout. Smith's sac fly plated Maney. The WhizKids got their final 2 runs in the 6th. Konstantakis and Maney were each hit by a pitch, Teats drew a walk, and Caputo hit a 2-run single. Americans broke through in the 7th on singles by Jim Wing and Ed Rodgers, an error, and singles from Ken Zimmer and Ben Petrone. Konstantakis then retired the next 3 batters. Good luck to Brad Buchan and the rest of the Americans in the upcoming playoffs. Jim Porter-WhizKids
