To all you 57ers:
Gary D'Ambrisi called this morning to explain the 57 and over tournament MSBL National wants to get off the ground.

He tells me they have 3 teams guaranteed: Washington D.C.; Southern Maryland and Long Island. If he gets a 4th team, he will hold this event on the east Coast Nov. 11-16. Guaranteed six games, plus one championship round. It's $185 per player, but won't hold teams to a minimum. He simply believes that if he gets a 4th team, it will move forward from there.

Gary is a very understanding guy to work with and will do whatever it takes to get this off the ground.

We have a lot of talent up here 57 and over. I'd love to see us field a team. But here's the caveat:

I'm taking a team of 60+ to the other coast for the Hobbs tournament Nov. 16-23, so I can't organize the 57s, which I have explained to Gary. If we can get someone to take the reigns and move this forward, the tournament will happen. I trust Gary's word that he has 3 definites. Besides, he plays in Long Island, so that team is probably a given. Southern Md. and D.C. have always had plenty of quality players to choose from in that age group, so I believe Gary has 3 definite teams.

Again, Gary will do whatever he can to help you along. I will give you his phone number if you call me at 461-7850 or he'll gladly call you.

I will also try to play on the team if needed since I have a place to stay there. It depends on how much work this Hobbs event creates for me.
