Reds 6 Golden Marlins 0

Chris Dunn pitched a 4 hit complete game shut out to lead the Reds over the Golden Marlins on Sunday morning at the Satellite filed. Chris did not get the job done by using an overpowering fastball (though he has one). He used guile and smarts along with a great command of all of his pitches. Mr. Dunn had only one strike out, but was always able to get the out he needed by keeping the Marlin hitters off balance.
With two outs and nobody on in the first inning, the Marlins looked like they would score first when Randy Craft walked and Ron Lochner followed with a single. Dave Mitchell Followed with a towering drive to center field, but one step before backing up into the weeds in center field, Brian Mueller made the catch, to end the inning.
The Reds used a two-out and nobody on Marlins error, a stolen base and a RBI single by Ron McCarthy to take a 1-0 lead, in the bottom of the first.
The Marlins looked like they might get even in the top of the second when Mike Girard led off the inning with a double and was moved to third on a ground out to second base, but Dunn got a come backer to the mound, and a pop out to short to squelch the rally.
The Reds took a commanding lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning, when again the Marlins aided the Reds cause by committing two untimely errors. The Reds would plate 5 runs in the inning with just 4 singles (Charlie Handford, Ed Class, Bobby Davis, and Dave Van Wormer).
With the score 6-0, Chris Dunn cruised on home allowing just 2 more singles (Dave Mitchell in the 4th and Jim Ansel in the 5th).
Jim Ansel pitched way better in his 5 innings than the end result, allowing just 2 earned runs on 7 hits and one walk, while striking out 4. Chris Dunn's final line: 7 innings, 0 runs, 4 hits, 4 walks, and one strike out.
The Golden Marlins drop to 1-3 with the loss, and face the Royals next Sunday at the Satellite field.
The Reds improve to 4-1, with the win, and face the Cougars next Sunday.
